A Providence man has pleaded guilty to his role in the slaying and dismemberment of a Cranston man whose remains were found last summer in waters off Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced Monday that Graig Bustillo is being held without bail. He pleaded guilty Friday in Providence Superior Court to conspiracy to commit murder in the killing of Kerry Mello.

The 36-year-old Mello disappeared August 10.

Police confirmed in January that Mello was dead. Authorities said during a court hearing last month that Mello's remains were found in the waters off Westport, Massachusetts, and in Little Compton, Rhode Island, around 10 days after he disappeared.

Three other men have been charged in the killing.

Sentencing for Bustillo has not yet been scheduled.
