FREETOWN — Authorities are investigating the second fatal crash in three days on a stretch of Route 24 in Freetown.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, troopers assigned to the State Police Middleboro and Dartmouth barracks responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 24 northbound north of Exit 10 in Freetown. Troopers and EMTs arrived on scene and discovered that the operator, a 34-year-old male, was deceased. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Preliminary information shows the vehicle was being operated northbound when, for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway and struck a tree, causing fatal injuries to the operator.

The facts and circumstances of the crash remain under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police with assistance from the Bristol County State Police Detective Unit, Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section, and Crime Scene Services Section.

State Police say no other information is being released at this time. Troopers were assisted on scene by Freetown Fire and EMS and MassDOT.

It's the second fatal crash in that area this week. On Sunday, 34-year-old Joshua A. Golbranson of Wareham was killed in a single-car rollover crash on Route 24 south in Freetown that also sent a 34-year-old Taunton woman and 13-year-old girl to the hospital.
