New Bedford Police are investigating after a man was stabbed Saturday afternoon.

Detective Captain Steven Vicente says the 63-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times in his home near Alva St. and Winslow St.

The man's throat was also cut.

Vicente says that at around 3:20 p.m. the suspect entered the victim's home through an unlocked door.

The suspect and victim, who are acquainted, got into an argument over money.

At some point the suspect armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim repeatedly in the torso.

First responders found the victim to be semi conscious holding onto the phone he used to call 911.

Vicente says officers were able to get limited information from the victim before he was transported to Rhode Island Hospital with life threatening injuries.

The victim was last reported to be in critical condition and it's said he is unable to speak with detectives.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. William Sauve at 508-991-6300 ext. 130
