According to the Standard Times, police were called to an Old Bridge Street residence early Monday night for a family disturbance involving an unidentified man and his father.

The 34-year-old male fled on foot to a bridge over the Nemasket River where he taunted officers with a large knife, yelling he wanted to be shot by police. The man had also fashioned a noose on the bridge.

Eventually, police were able to talk the man into dropping the knife.

He was then transported to the hospital for evaluation.
