A man from Fairhaven was convicted of possession of child pornography and was sentenced to two years in the Bristol County House of Corrections.

According to South Coast Today, 51 year-old, John Moura, was convicted after a jury trial in New Bedford District Court last Thursday.

Also, as a result of his conviction, Moura will be required to register as a sex offender.

The investigation of the defendant was conducted by state police detectives after a cyber-tip from Microsoft was sent to the district attorney's office.

It was then suspected that child pornography was being stored on a Skydrive account from an IP address in Fairhaven. After obtaining a search warrant, state police detectives searched the residence of his relative’s at Glenhaven Road after it was learned he had previously been staying there.

“At trial, John Hendrie, the supervising prosecutor in New Bedford District Court, showed that Moura downloaded four images of child pornography onto the home computer and then uploaded those images to his Skydrive account. The images were first possessed by the defendant in the summer of 2011.”
