The death of a man in the indoor swimming pool at a Cape Cod hotel is the second drowning in that same pool in the last four months.

Yarmouth fire officials say they were called to the Bayside Resort Hotel late Thursday afternoon, but by the time paramedics arrived Fire Capt. David Morley told the Cape Cod Times it was too late to save the 39-year-old man.

A 9-year-old girl from New York drowned while swimming in the hotel pool in August.

Officials did not immediately release the man's name of other information about Thursday's incident. It was not immediately known if any hotel staffers certified in CPR, first aid and water safety were working at the time, as required by the town.

Lifeguards are not required at most hotel pools.
