A unidentified Walpole power boat racer died as the result of a crash during a competition at Watson Pond in Taunton Sunday. Witnesses say the man’s boat flipped over toward the end of a race. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the man after he was taken out of the water, and he was transported in an ambulance from the scene. The 33rd annual Memorial Race, An American Power Boat Association event, was taking place throughout the weekend at Watson Pond, drawing dozens of hydroplane racers, along with their family and friends. The Massachusetts Environmental Police along with the Bristol County DA's office are investigating the accident.
