A man being sought by New Bedford Police in connection with a convenience store break-in has been arrested.

Lt. Amos Melo says 49-year-old Richard Nunes was placed under arrest around 1 p.m. Monday in the parking lot of the New Bedford Inn and Suites located at 500 Hathaway Rd.

Nunes is a suspect in the Sunday morning break-in at Penny's Variety Store located at 181 Arnold St. where a large quantity of cigarette cartons were taken and the building was damaged.

Melo says that Nunes was in possession of six Suboxone tablets during his arrest.

Nunes is being charged with B&E building night time for felony, Malicious destruction of property over $250, and Possession of class B (suboxone).
