A New Bedford man faces several charges after allegedly breaking into a parked tractor trailer.

Police on patrol Sunday morning spotted the man inside the trailer, parked in the 900 block of Shawmut Avenue. Upon investigation, police found the man had pried the doors of the trailer open, and was in the process of taking Coca-Cola products.

Police arrested 24-year-old Jacob Martin of Deane Street and charged him with breaking and entering in the daytime, and larceny exceeding $250.

During the booking process, Martin used his phone to call his girlfriend who has a restraining order against him. He was subsequently charged with violation of a restraining order.

Martin was arraigned this morning in New Bedford District Court.
