One man is under arrest after fleeing from Acushnet police Sunday night.

A police dispatcher tells WBSM news they received a call at 9:43 p.m. about a suspicious vehicle on Middle Rd.

While investigating they came across a suspicious male who fled the scene discarding at least one knife.

Officers secured a perimeter, and by 11:20 p.m., they had the suspect in custody.

The suspect, who's being identified only as a 23-year-old male, was arrested on charges including disorderly conduct and assault with a dangerous weapon.

The dispatcher says the suspect also has outstanding warrants in other communities.

New Bedford police and State police aided in the search.
