Earlier this month former Miss New Bedford Outstanding Teen Alyssa Maitoza was crowned Miss Massachusetts Outstanding Teen.

Now Maitoza told WBSM's Phil Paleologos on Tuesday that she has her sights on the national crown.

"I am going to be competing for the title of Miss America's Outstanding Teen, in Orlando, in August, alongside 51 other girls, they include Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia," said Maitoza "I get to room with another girl from a different state and just spend the whole week rehearsing and practicing and then ultimately competing."

However, before that happens Maitoza says she will be hosting a fundraiser for a very worthy cause.

"The National Platform, which is the issue we would like to raise money for and raise awareness for the Miss America organization and the Miss America's Outstanding Teen Organization, is the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals," said Maitoza.

"I have a fundraising goal of $1,000 to donate to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, so I will be hosting a fundraiser sometime in the next few months," said Maitoza.

While a location and date are still to be determined, Maitoza said that a great night of entertainment is an almost certain guarantee.

"I'm thinking of doing a showcase with a bunch of my talented friends from my dancing, singing, and acting and other girls that do pageants as well," said Maitoza.
