Ma Raffa’s vs. Pa Raffa’s: Which Did the SouthCoast Choose?
Well, one week and hundred of comments later, and we still don’t have a clear-cut winner in the eternal debate that has raged on the SouthCoast for decades: Ma Raffa’s or Pa Raffa’s?
We put the call out on our Fun 107 and WBSM Facebook pages last weekend to see which was your favorite Italian restaurant in New Bedford, and tried to spend the entire week tallying up the votes, but they just keep pouring in,
Every time we think we have a victor, the tide shifts in the other's direction.
Of course, both are excellent choices for a flavorful, filling and affordable Italian feast, but as with everything, people definitely have a preference for one or the other.
Most just chose a side, without giving any context. But some of the commenters got a little saucy.
For others, it all came down to two factors: distance and delivery. Unless you're Lisa, and you're willing to make the extra drive to visit your first choice.
The debate reached all the way to the other side of the world, too, but unfortunately GotChew only delivers so far.
In some cases, choosing Ma Raffa's over Pa Raffa's is purely a financial decision, as Pa's famously accepts only cash.
There are plenty of ATM machines on the way to Pa's. Just sayin'.
An indecisive few tried to play it down the middle, not choosing a side. Some even opted out of the debate completely by choosing the competition (also an excellent choice, of course, but this was about a Raffa's raff-off).
You certainly can, Michelle, but that doesn't help us solve the Ma vs. Pa debate!
And then there's this guy...
Brian, we hope that's your restaurant choice, and that one of your kids isn't named Pa Raffa's. Or else your other children, Ma Raffa's, Riccardi's, and little Pasta House are going to be very upset with you.
Many chose particular favorite dishes from one or the other; for example, they may like Ma's meatballs more, or prefer Pa's pizza.
In the end, it doesn't matter where you go for some Italian food in New Bedford...they're all winners.
