As Dartmouth Select Board Chairman Shawn McDonald put it, the bar is set high for the town's next Youth Advocate.

On Monday, the Select Board presented retiring Youth Advocate, Kevin Lee, with a citation for his years of work with kids in town.

Mental health councilor, Jennifer Cabral has been hired as his replacement.

Lee tells WBSM News while he expects great things from Cabral, youth advocacy requires a people-first attitude and helping kids and their families through crisis.

"You gotta care about that in your gut. If you're just looking at it for the glory or looking at it for the money, you are in the wrong job," said Lee.

Lee was Dartmouth's first youth advocate, working in town for 31 years.
