Local Southcoast Friday Night Sports Recap and Scores

It was a busy Friday night on the local high school basketball scene with some records being set.

In Wareham,  Darien Fernandez became Wareham's all time boys scorer breaking the record set by Aaron Strothers off 1224 points in 2007. Wareham won its 12th game of the year beating Fairhaven 66-51. Bishop Stang Coach Joe Balestracci won his 200th career game at Stang as the Spartans beat Coyle 45-38.

New Bedford Voke Tech moved to within 1 game of qualifying for the State Tournement with a 71-59 win over Apponequet..Barnstable beat Dartmouth 69-59...Westport Topped Diman Voke 58-50, D R  toppled Old Rochester 59-39 and Old Colony stopped West Bridgewater 52-49..

In girls action, Dartmouth topped Barnstable 42-32...Old Rochester crushed D R 52-19..Fairhaven stopped Wareham 57-46, Stang nipped Coyle 41-40, Apponequet knocked off New Bedford Voke Tech 54-39, West Bridgwater toppled Old Colony 45-28 and Westport outlasedt Diman Voke 53-31.
