The New Bedford Whaling Museum has received a significant funding boost. BayCoast Bank has awarded $100,000 to the museum, to be used towards the construction of the new Educational Center and Research Library expansion of the museum.

Museum President James Russell says he and his staff are grateful for the generous donation.

The new addition will allow for increased educational programs at all levels, create more archive and gallery space, and extend the observation deck.

The museum has raised over $8 million of the $10 million dollars needed to begin construction, which will get underway after spring of next year.
