Members of the group Southcoast Neighbors United are listing their concerns with the proposed LNG project in Acushnet.

Roger Cabral, treasurer of the opposition group, says the new tanks would dwarf the current storage tanks off of Peckham Road. "These tanks are 90 yards across, which is most of a football field, and 170 feet tall. So they will be taller than Gillette stadium, and they will fill most of a football stadium, and there will be two of them," said Cabral.

But they would be located in rural Acushnet.

Cabral and board member Joe Carvalho expressed concerns over safety and property value, summarizing the project as a bad fit for the town.

The project is being put forward by Eversource, and is currently awaiting approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
