Here are some of the year’s most highly anticipated movies that are hitting the theaters on Christmas Day.

According to Mic.com, these six films will definitely give you and your family an excuse to go out to the movies on Christmas Day.

1. The Revenant

Director Alejandro González Iñárritu has directed several critically acclaimed films, including 2014's Birdman, which won the Oscar for best motion picture of the year. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the movie as a frontiersman that was attacked by a bear and sets on a path of vengeance against those who left him for dead after a bear mauling.

2. Joy

Joy is based on the real life story of American entrepreneur and innovator, Joy Mangano, starred by Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the role of a Long Island, New York, native who invented household tools.

3. Daddy's Home

Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg are back together again after starring in the 2010 comedy, The Other Guys. Daddy’s Home, is a comedy about a humiliating battle between Ferrell and Wahlberg’s characters to be the "cool" dad.

4. Concussion

Will Smith stars as Bennet Omalu, a Nigerian forensic pathologist who shed light on brain trauma in football in the early 2000s after performing an autopsy on professional football player Mike Webster in 2002.

5. Point Break

Point Break is a remake of the 1991 movie that starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze about criminals who conduct a series of heists and give the stolen money to the poor. Now, Luke Bracey and Édgar Ramírez take on the lead roles in Point Break.

6. The Hateful Eight

On IMDb, Director Quentin Tarantino's latest film, The Hateful Eight, has already an impressive early rating of an 8.6. This post-Civil War film documents everything that goes wrong when bounty hunters seek shelter in a winter blizzard.
