The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement indicating that light snow will continue through most of the day, particularly along the South Coast.

Although only about an inch is expected, visibility may be reduced to two miles or less at times. Scattered observations and web cameras indicated light accumulations along area roadways earlier in the day.

Snow is expected to continue into the evening hours. Expect Southern Massachusetts to primarily be affected, including the communities of Taunton, Brockton, Plymouth, Fall River, New Bedford, Mattapoisett, Plymouth and the islands.

Drivers should use caution because visibility may drop at times to less than a mile and roads could become slippery. This may lead to traffic accidents, particularly on highways, as road conditions could change rapidly.
