The branch manager of the Casa De Saudade Library will be summonsed into court to answer a charge of larceny.

Police have accused Judith Downey of New Bedford of larceny over $250.

They alleged she used the library cards of three dead people over the last few years, to "take out" more than 300 books from city libraries, after her own account was "maxed out."

After the Standard Times reported on the missing books, officials say Downey began returning the books to the library staff.

Police say it appeared the suspect was hoarding the books at her home and in her work office.  The total value of the books exceeded $6,000 dollars.
