Legal action is being taken against the owner of a farm in Westport where more than a thousand animals were found living in squalor earlier this year.

ABC6 says that on Wednesday the town's Building Commissioner, the Board of Health and the Animal Inspector filed for an injunction against Richard Medeiros in Bristol County Superior Court.

Medeiros would have to demolish the buildings that have been condemned on his property if the court order is granted.

He also wouldn't be allowed to have animals living in those buildings in the interim.

There has been a preliminary hearing scheduled for next Thursday.
