A woman who was accused of kidnapping her children on Sunday has been taken into custody and her children were found safe.

Lakeville Police say that 47-year-old Valerie McGrath fled took the children with their father’s permission Sunday afternoon but didn’t return them at 5 p.m. as agreed.

Their father, Steven Carrigan, has sole custody of the children, identified as 5-year-old Steven and 7-year-old Eden.

A warrant was then issued for McGrath's arrest on a charge of minor kidnapping by a relative.

A report came in around 3:30 p.m. Monday that McGrath and the children had been spotted in Swansea, where McGrath's vehicle was found in a lot off of Sharps Lot Rd.

It was then discovered that McGrath had rented another vehicle in Fall River and she was eventually found by Massachusetts State Police in a drive-thru of a McDonalds on Route 138 in Raynham.

The children were with McGrath and, after they were checked by EMS personnel, were returned to their father.

McGrath was placed under arrest and is currently being held on $10,000 cash bail.

She is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Wareham District Court.
