Congressman William Keating won the Democratic nomination in the 9th Congressional District on Thursday, earning victories in town after town on Cape Cod and in Plymouth County. The Associated Press said Keating won 59% of the vote, while Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter tallied 41%. Sutter outpolled Keating in most of the Southcoast, including in the cities of New Bedford and Fall River, Sutter's home town, but it wasn't enough to offset the victories piled up by Keating in the rest of the district.

In other election results, the Republican Primary in the 9th District is stll too close to call. Christopher Shelton, a Plymouth County Charter Commissioner, and former Sandwich Selectmen Adam Chaprales are squaring off on the G-O-P side.

In the Democratic Primary for the 10th Bristol State Representative Race, veteran state lawmaker William Straus easily defeated Abilio "Billy" Soares by nearly a 4-1 margin.

The Democratic Primary for the 1st District Governor's Council seat is a toss up. With about 80% of the vote counted, Norman Bernier and Oliver Cipplini each have 34% of the vote, Walter Moniz has 32% of the vote
