A Massachusetts judge says prosecutors in a murder case against Aaron Hernandez may not tell jurors about two other killings with which the ex-New England Patriot is charged.

The judge ruled Friday in Bristol Superior Court.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, a semi-professional football player who was dating the sister of Hernandez's fiancee. He has also pleaded not guilty to the fatal shootings of two men in 2012 after an encounter at a Boston nightclub.

Prosecutors in the Lloyd case sought to introduce evidence related to other alleged "bad acts," but the defense says it's prejudicial and the trial should be only about Lloyd's killing.

The judge also disallowed several text messages Lloyd sent shortly before he was killed, which prosecutors said showed fear.
