A forfeiture hearing is being held Thursday in Boston Federal Court on the U.S. Attorney's efforts to seize $1.38 million dollars in assets from former Dartmouth Select Board member John George.

George was found guilty in April of embezzling money from the Southeast Regional Transit Authority, while serving as President of the Union Street Bus Company.

The prosecution claimed he stole more than a $500,000 in labor, goods and other services for the betterment of his Dartmouth farm.

George has been sentenced to nearly six months in prison and must pay restitution of $688,000. He begins serving his prison term on September 23rd.

George's assets have been valued at $2.96 million, mainly is Slocum Road farm and his residence.
