A Federal Court jury has found Dartmouth Selectboard member John George guilty of conspiracy and embezzlement. The news was first reported by the Standard Times.

The ten-day trial included testimony from George on Wednesday, who denied doing anything wrong.

Proseuctors said George conspired to steal money from the Southeast Regional Transit Authority, while providing bus service to the authority as president of the Union Street Bus Company.

Prosecutors claim George assigned Union Street employees to work at his Dartmouth farm while on bus company time, and that he inflated his final yearly salary by 200-thousand dollars to boost his pension.

Sentencing is set for July 15th.
