Joclyne Nunes Crowned Miss New Bedford

A new Miss New Bedford was named Saturday night.

Joclyne Nunes beat out seven other contestants to take the crown following five phases which included modeling a swimsuit and evening wear.

Nunes special talent was Contemporary Dance where she played a spoken word recording.

Nunes says the performance was a dedication to two important influences in her life.

Nunes platform is the "Power of the Performing Arts" and she says she plans to visit schools and events to get the entire community engaged in the arts.
