Joan Mondale Dead At 83

Joan Adams Mondale, wife of former Vice President Walter Mondale, has died at the age of 83.  Mrs. Mondale was moved into a hospice facility over the weekend from her home in Minneapolis. 

Former Vice President Mondale in a statement says, "We are grateful for the expressions of love and support we have received.  Joan was greatly loved by many.  We will miss her dearly." 

Joan Mondale was nationally and internationally known as a promoter of the arts.  She died this afternoon surrounded by her husband, sons and family members.  Services are Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in downtown Minneapolis. (Metro Networks Inc.)
