Jared Remy Pleads Guilty To First-Degree Murder

Jared Remy pleaded guilty to first-degree murder today for killing his girlfriend, Jennifer Martel, in their Waltham home last August. Remy entered his guilty plea before Middlesex Superior Court Judge Kathe Tuttman. He now faces a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.

The attack took place August 15, 2013, one day after Remy was charged with threatening Martel but was released by Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan’s office.

Jared Remy is the son of Red Sox broadcaster Jerry Remy. Many people have questioned whether Jerry should be in the broadcast booth during this trial.
