JC Penny To Close 40 Stores Nationwide

Some forty JC Penny stores will be closing around the country over the next few months, including stores in Taunton, Hanover and Providence.

A company spokesman says the stores were under-performing.

The closings will include the JC Penny stores at Silver City Galleria Mall in Taunton, the Hanover Mall, and the Providence Place Mall in Providence.

The spokesman says the stores will be closed by early April.
