Its Moving Day For The Shawmut Diner

The former Shawmut Diner is headed west...to the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth.

Owners Phil and Celeste Paleologos operated the eatery for more than 30 years at Shawmut Avenue and Hathaway Road, before selling that site to Cumberland Farms.

The owners recently decided to donate the diner to the Sheriff's Department.  Sheriff Tom Hodgson wants to use the diner as a training tool, teaching inmates about the food service industry.

The diner was loaded onto a special trailer on Friday.  The move will take place Tuesday morning around nine.  The Paleologos family is paying for the move.
