Locally, the IRS and police have been alerting the community about phone scam artists calling and pretending to be the IRS. They prey on the vulnerable to either pay up or face a stiff punishment, or they say you are owed a return and they fish for personal information.

WBSM has had many stories lately describing the tactics of the thieves. Many of our listeners have called on-air to share their experiences.

The scam artists sound convincing. They may have some information about you and try to trick you into falling for the con. Just recently, at least 70 scam artists have been arrested in India and hundreds more are being questioned after police uncovered a massive scam to cheat thousands of Americans out of millions of dollars! The operations raked in at least $150,000 dollars a day. Click here for the detailed story.
