The chairman of the Iowa Democratic Party says last night's caucuses were historic. Dr. Andy McGuire released a statement saying more than 170-thousand Democrats showed up for one of the strongest turnouts in history.

It turned out to be the closest vote in Iowa Democratic caucus history as well.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the winner by the slimmest of margins.

She'll be awarded 699-point-57 state delegate equivalents.

Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders has been awarded 695-point-49 state delegate equivalents.

A small number of state delegate equivalents are split between the "uncommitted" group and former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, who says he's suspending his campaign for president.

There is also one precinct - Des Moines 42 - which has yet to report. That final precinct is worth two-point-28 state delegate equivalents and will be awarded when results are confirmed.
