Police are continuing their investigation into a motor vehicle incident Wednesday afternoon that left a New Bedford man dead.

Gregg Miliote, a spokesman with the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, says that at around 2:20 p.m. Dartmouth police received a call about a man being struck by a vehicle, identified as a a 2015 gray Jeep Cherokee, near 58 Hathaway Rd.

Officers found the victim, identified as 74-year-old Richard F. Bailey, deceased at the scene.

Miliote says the Jeep's driver stopped after striking Bailey and has been interviewed by police.

Dartmouth Police are currently currently performing an accident reconstruction and Miliote says no charges have been filed at this time.
