International Seafood Buyers Visit New Bedford

Seafood buyers from ten countries toured New Bedford's waterfront Friday, hoping to buy product from seafood dealers here.

The buyers came from countries like Belgium, Brazil, China and Turkey. They're attending the 2015 Seafood Expo in Boston.

Colleen Coyne of Food Export USA-Northeast tells WBSM News, the international buyers are interested in New Bedford scallops and lobster, and other species as well.

This is the 11th year international seafood buyers have come to New Bedford to learn how the fishing industry works here, and to purchase fish.

Coyne says those deals, when finalized, will result in millions of dollars of sales by seafood suppliers in the Northeast.
