Incumbents Ousted In Westport Elections

It was a tough night for incumbents in Westport on Tuesday.

The Standard Times is reporting that two-term incumbent Selectman former WBSM talk show host Richard Spirlet lost to Shana Shufelt by over 120 votes.

Incumbent School Committee Member Melissa Pacheco lost to former schools Superintendent Margot Desjardins and Finance Committee Chair Mark Carney.

The race for the open seat on the Board of Health saw Water Resources Committee chairman William Harkins defeat Philip Weinberg, a retired state Department of Environmental Protection regional director and Heather Salva, a licensed food safety professional for the Fall River Health Department.

Turn out was just under 20%.
