One of our loyal listeners, enjoying an ocean side walk with her husband along Ft. Tabor/Ft. Rodman, spotted something in the water that was out-of-the-ordinary! She decided to call-in and share her revelation on-air. She said a whale was stuck in place out about 200 yards! I had to ask her to repeat herself twice before we called the local authorities to check this out! Her husband even jumped on the phone verifying that the whale could be seen splashing and thrashing its tail in the choppy water!

The beauty of radio is its immediacy. Within minutes, listeners were turning into the park, jogging up to the site where 30 or so people had gathered to stare and point at the distressed animal. City Police, the Animal Control Officer and curiosity seekers with binoculars were making quite a splash.

And thar she blows! Oh wait, that's NOT a stuck whale! Taking a good close look through binoculars, the baby Beluga turned out to be a rock shaped like a long whale, complete with a curved tail, with waves splashing all around it, making it appear like a whale stuck in place or tangled up in rope.

I couldn't stop laughing! What a great way to spend a morning on the radio!
