Massachusetts, the birthplace of America, has been a de facto single-party state for years, meaning the controlling democrats pass the laws, create taxes and control state spending.

Since the two-party system, with checks and balances, is not happening presently in the Bay State, the next alternative is to elect a Republican governor. Our state has had many republican governors of late serving with the democratically controlled House of Representatives; Volpe, Sargent, Weld, Cellucci, Swift and Romney.

I remain active politically because I believe it takes this kind of civic participation to have good government!
