Hundreds Volunteer at New Bedford Charity

Over 600 people donated their time to help others in need today. The volunteers were put to work in the Gifts to Give building on Cove Street in New Bedford, sorting toys, folding clothes, and preparing gift packages for poverty-stricken families across the Southcoast.
John Dias spent several hours volunteering with his wife, and says the day sends an important message to everyone involved.

The massive volunteer effort was part of the observation of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which calls for the public to donate their time to help those in need.
