NEW BEDFORD - Conservative politicians and other notables from around the state are descending upon New Bedford Friday to speak out against what they call the 'Massachusetts Establishment'.

WBSM Talk Show Host Howie Carr will lead off the Drain the Massachusetts Swamp Rally on the Pleasant Street side of the downtown library at 12 p.m. Friday. Howie says the state legislature has been playing fast and loose with taxpayer dollars, and it's time they're held accountable. "It's quite a morass up on Beacon Hill. It doesn't get as much play in the press now with what's going on in D.C., but they are on an orgy," says Carr.

Proposals like taxing services performed in the home or to your car also have Howie and others upset.

"They're giving themselves these giant pay raises. They're talking about putting up toll entries, like they have on the Mass Turnpike, on every major road in the state. They're talking about a graduated income tax, they call it the Millionaires Tax, but guess what? In a couple of years, if you're making $40,000 a year, you're going to be affected by the Millionaires Tax."

Joining Howie will be State Representatives Geoff Diehl, Keiko Orrall, and Shaunna O'Connell, along with Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson.

The rally is being organized by WBSM talk show hosts Barry Richard, Phil Paleologos, and Brian Thomas.
