Jon Lester pitched into the seventh inning, and key home runs by Jonny Gomes and Grady Sizemore powered the Red Sox to a 4-2 over the New York Yankees Friday at Yankee Stadium. It was Lester's first win of the season.

The Yankees jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the second when designated hitter Alfonso Soriano homered off Lester.

The Red Sox were held at bay by Yankee starter C.C.Sabathia till the sixth, when  Gomes tied the game with a solo homer to left.  Later in the Inning, Grady Sizemore followed with a three-run shot to right field to give the Red Sox all the runs they would need.

Righty Edward Mujica hurled a 1-2-3 ninth inning and picked up the save. Regular closer Koji Uehara reported some shoulder stiffness and was held out of the game as a precaution.

The series continues Saturday at 1pm with John Lackey on the mound for Boston.  WBSM's broadcast time is 12:20pm

Notes: Before the game,  Yankee's Jacoby Ellsbury and Matt Thornton were presented their 2013 World Series rings by Red Sox GM Ben Cherrington and Manager John Farrell.
