Homeless New Bedford Woman Hit By Car at ‘Octopus’ Intersection
NEW BEDFORD - A homeless woman was hit by a car near downtown New Bedford Thursday afternoon.
Police say the accident took place as a car traveling east on Route 6 towards Fairhaven hit the 40-year-old woman as she was crossing the street at the "octopus" intersection at 3:20 p.m. Thursday.
She was transported to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
