The traditional Yom HaShoah memorial observance took place at the monument on the south side of Buttonwood Park. Among the milestones remembered was the 70th anniversary of the uprising by Jewish resistance fighters in the Nazi-controlled ghetto of Warsaw.

Rabbi Rafael Kanter of Tifereth Israel Synagogue called the Warsaw Uprising a testament to the human spirit.

The memorial service concluded with a procession to Tifereth Israel for a speaking program, led by Holocaust survivor Dr. Miriam Klein Kassenoff.
