Correction officers in Bristol County are awaiting to hear from union leaders on a pending contract signed by Sheriff Tom Hodgson.

Hodgson approved the three-year contract that would give correction officers a $10,000 salary increase, putting them on the same pay-grade as other correction officers throughout the state.

Hodgson says his office also benefits, since the higher salaries will mean a higher retention rate for correction officers.

Hodgson is now urging the union to ratify the contract, allowing the raises to take effect.
