Two things occurred to me when I read this explosive op-ed piece in the New York Times written by an anonymous person claiming to be in Trump's administration.

First of all, it might just be a hoax. There are people out there who are brilliant, and they enjoy pulling off pranks and hoaxes on the media and politicians. British comedian Sasha Baron Cohen has built a career on grand hoaxes

At this point, I can't determine if this is a hoax.

The other thing that occurred to me is that this letter to the NYT can't be taken seriously, even if it isn't a hoax.

This person describes himself as a member of a group of "senior officials" in the Trump administration who are covertly working to "frustrate parts of his agenda and his worst inclinations," and they are doing it because "we believe our first duty is to this country, and the president continues to act in a manner that is detrimental to the health of our republic."

This is an explosive charge and one that should concern all the folks in our republic.

This person is claiming that they are working to save our country from a dangerous president.

Crucial to the mission of halting the dangerous impulses of any leader is the ability to make decisions as a member of the administration. One of the keys to the success of the mission is secrecy. The president and his loyal staffers must not discover this mission or its members for the country to be saved.

However, this person has decided to reveal the whole operation in an op-ed piece to the nation's "paper of record." Does that make any sense?

This person has blown the entire operation. If the person really believed they had to work secretly within the administration to save the country, do you think they would tell the world about it?

This is either a hoax, or a terrible publicity stunt by a person who has motivations that aren't in the line with the good of our republic. This op-ed will be used by the propaganda operations of hostile nations to undermine the credibility of the United States around the world.

Fire up the polygraph and line up all the "senior officials" in the administration. And someone should give Sasha Baron Cohen a call and see if he has anything to brag about.
