An Attleboro man has been arrested in connection with a January 30 Hit and Run that left a Seekonk Assistant Town Clerk dead.

Gregg Miliote, a spokesman with the Britol County District Attorney's Office, says that 24-year-old Jacob J. LaCourse was arrested at his home at 6 Daley St. Friday night.

Seekonk Assistant Town Clerk Karen McHugh was struck on January 30 on Arcade Ave. around 10 p.m.

McHugh was then taken to Rhode Island Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Miliote say LaCourse was arrested following a six month investigation Seekonk Police and Massachusetts State Police.

LaCourse is being charged with Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident-Death Resulting and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

Miliote says LaCourse was ordered held on $500,000 cash bail until his scheduled arraignment Monday morning in Taunton District Court.

Prior to his Friday arrest, Mr. LaCourse was free on bail on a pending Superior Court case.
