Fall River Police have filed charges against two teens after a transaction involving a cell phone leads to a hit and run.

Detective J.D. Costa says a 17-year-old male from Swansea went to South Winds at 4700 North Main Street to view a cell phone that was for sale.

When a 15-year-old Fall River resident showed him the phone, the 17-year-old recognized the phone as belonging to a friend and accused the 15-year-old of stealing it.

The 15-year-old then began punching the 17-year-old while he was still in his truck.

The 17-year-old then drove off causing injuries to the 15-year-old who was still hanging on the side.

The 15-year-old was treated at the scene before being taken to Rhode Island hospital, his condition is unknown at this time.

Costa says the 17-year-old will receive a summons to appear in Juvenile Court on charges of Leaving the Scene of Personal Injury and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.

The 15-year-old will receive a summons to appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of Assault and Battery.

The incident remains under investigation.
