A serious problem developed during Thursday's nor'easter with the steeple and siding of the historic First Baptist Church on Williams Street in Downtown New Bedford.  New Bedford firefighters responded to the church and found a piece of decorative siding near the steeple flapping in the high winds.  They cleared the street and City Hall parking lot and by using two ladder trucks, they secured the siding, at least temporarily, with some rope.   More permanent repairs will have to be done when the weather improves.
