This week's new movies opened mid-week to take advantage of the holiday.

DESPICABLE ME 2   (Rated PG)

Steve Carell and Kristen Wiig are back to lend their voices and the minnions return too. The film follows Gru, an ex-villain, who has given up his life of crime to raise Margo, Agnes and Edith.

"The Lone Ranger" (Rated PG-13)

"The Lone Ranger" stars Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer. The film follows Tonto as he recalls the untold stories of himself and the Lone Ranger, an unlikely pair who worked together to fight against greed and corruption.

I started by telling our critic that my kids and I are looking forward to "Despicable Me."
