Mass in Motion New Bedford is awarded a $29,000 grant.

The Healthy Food Fund grant, provided by the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, will allow Mass in Motion to implement a Community Supported Agriculture program at two New Bedford public housing sites during the summer, providing fresh fruits and vegetables from two local farms. The program will last 20 weeks.

The program is modeled after a similar CSA between the Mass Department of Transitional Assistance, the Greater New Bedford Community Health Center, and Project Bread. In that program, Apponagansett and Round the Bend Farms in Dartmouth deliver produce weekly, with participants paying for a share of the harvest at the beginning of the season and receiving a portion of the harvest each week.
