Some of the most vital staff in local hospitals aren't making a living wage.

Nearly one hundred people gathered at the New Bedford Senior Center Monday night to call for a hike in the minimum healthcare wage to $15/hour.

1199 SEIU United Healthcare Workers East hosted the event and had the support from other local unions, legislators, and community based groups.

Jacqueline Galloway works at Tobey Hospital, which will begin contract negotiations later this year.

She's confident their message will be clear.

Home care workers and nursing home employees also offered their personal accounts with living on such low wages, but performing jobs they love.

Healthcare employees from all across the state will join 1199 SEIU on Beacon Hill April 14th as part of a national day of action for the Fight for $15 movement.
